Check Your Bread Products
Check your bread labels! Many breads, rolls or flour contain Potassium Bromate, an additive added to many bread products to increase its volume. Potassium Bromate has been known to cause cancer in laboratory animals since 1982, yet the FDA still declares it safe to eat.
The FDA did, however, acknowledge that Potassium Bromate is a dangerous additive…but instead of banning its use, they instead tried to discourage bakeries from using it in their foods. I don’t know about you, but this shows a total disregard for the health of our American citizens. The very citizens the FDA is supposed to be looking out for!
Watch out for this dangerous food additive! Potassium Bromate, or KBrO3, is toxic to our kidneys. It can lead to renal cell tumors and thyroid tumors, and causes damage to our central nervous system. Aren’t there enough things that can give us cancer without eating food that contains causes cancer too???
Our Food and Drug Administration, the organization that is supposed to ensure we are eating safe and healthy foods, needs to stop accepting bribes and start doing its job!! Many other countries have already banned the use of Potassium Bromate in food manufacturing because of its health risks. Shouldn’t we, the “strongest nation in the world” be taking care of our citizens better?
Many fast food restaurants, such as McDonald’s or Burger King, use sandwich buns that contain Potassium Bromate. Avoid these at all costs, and look at the labels of everything you buy at the grocery store.
The Side Effects of Tartrazine
Certain food additives are dangerous to our children, but who would have thought that the dyes used would be dangerous? I grew up using food coloring in frosting, decorating cookies and cakes…I don’t even know what else my mother used it on. So the fact that artificial coloring is so dangerous to our health was a surprise.
Of course the food coloring that we all grew up using isn’t the same thing as the artificial colors used in processed foods. Tartrazine, also known as FD&C Yellow #5 or E102, is one of these artificial coloring additives. This is one we don’t want to give to our kids, so avoid it like it’s the plague!
Tartrazine doesn’t even sound appetizing when you learn what it’s made from! As with most artificial colors, it is manufactured from coal tar; hmmmmm, yummy! BLECH!
I keep mentioning the fact that ADHD is not a disease, it’s merely caused by a poor diet loaded with all kinds of nasty, dangerous additives. I’ve told you how pesticides, MSG, BHA & BHT and refined sugar are all contributing to the fact that our children are hyperactive. Well, guess what? Now there’s another additive causing hyperactivity in our children: Tartrazine.
Sadly, this isn’t the only side effect that FD&C Yellow #5 has…it has also been linked to asthma, migraines, thyroid cancer, anxiety, clinical depression, blurred vision, purple spots on your skin and unexplainable itchy skin.
Do I really have to tell you WHY it’s used when the food industries are aware of its side effects? OK…I will…Tartrazine is still used because it’s cheap. Beta Carotene could be used to achieve the same color results as Tartrazine, but it’s more expensive. Bottom line: as with all other harmful food additives, the food industry continues to use this harmful artificial coloring because it is CHEAP.
Tartrazine is found in a LOT of products…cereals, desserts, snack foods, shampoos and even cosmetics can all contain this harmful colorant. All you have to do is check the labels before you buy!
While checking the labels of everything at the grocery store may seem like a pain in the ass, think about how much of a pain in the ass it would be if your child were to end up sick and in the hospital…or, if you have a child that has “diagnosed” with ADHD, think about how nice it would be to have a less hyperactive child.
BHT & BHA
Processed foods contain a variety of chemicals to help preserve them. Among these are Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) and Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA). Both BHT and BHA are dangerous to our children’s health and are completely unnecessary.
With the new “craze” (I call it a craze because I think it’s a load of BS) of ADHD and ADD, parents should be watching what they are feeding to their children. It’s funny, isn’t it, that so many parents feed their children hyped up sugary snacks, then throw them on drugs for this new “disease” that’s causing them to be “overly hyper”??
Now it’s not only the parent’s at fault for causing hyperactivity in children…the preservatives used in the foods being touted as “healthy” for our children are partially responsible for this “epidemic”! BHT and BHA are known to cause hyperactivity in children. By avoiding foods containing these unnecessary preservatives, parents can help improve the hyperactivity levels…without the use of drugs.
In addition to causing hyperactivity in children, BHT and BHA are considered carcinogens by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Yet the FDA allows them to be used in foods?! What’s wrong with this picture???
It seems that the more I research, the more I find out that the Food and Drug Administration is no longer interested in what they were created to do. The FDA is supposed to research foods and drugs to make sure everything sold to the public is safe for human use and consumption; however, so many dangerous food ingredients are being marked as “safe” when there is research to the contrary.
Obviously, the FDA has been corrupted by politics and the all powerful dollar. But, because of greed and political manipulations, our children, our FUTURE, are being endangered!
In the last 40 years or so, the rate of children with cancer has increased by 50%! This is not a coincidence!! Think about the fact that BHA and BHT have both been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals, and even the US DHHS says they are unsafe for human consumption, yet the FDA states that they are safe to be used in the foods we eat.
We can protect our children! Read the labels of everything you buy; if it says it contains BHT or BHA, put it back.
