The Dangers of Propyl Gallate

With all of the extremely dangerous additives being used by the food industry, it makes sense that those with even a suspicion of being dangerous should be avoided as well. Have you seen all those commercials that are advertising class action law suits for people who experienced severe health issues due to a particular prescription drug? Those are all drugs that the FDA approved less than ten years before! This is just another example of how the FDA approves dangerous products!

What is Propyl Gallate?

With that in mind, I want to bring to your attention a preservative that is often used in conjunction with BHA and BHT: Propyl Gallate. It is used as a food preservative in foods that contain oils and fats, to stop food from spoiling. Some foods that commonly contain Propyl Gallate include the following:

  • Vegetable oil
  • Meat products
  • Potato sticks
  • Soup bases
  • Cereals
  • Chewing gum

It’s also used in many personal care products, such as cosmetics and shampoos, to preserve their color.

Propyl Gallate Health Dangers

Propyl Gallate can cause allergic reactions in the form of an asthma attack in some people. It can also cause stomach and skin irritation, liver damage, kidney damage and has the potential to increase your chances of having cancer.

Animal testing has proven that the likelihood of contracting cancer increased; however, due to the conditions of the study itself, scientists state that it cannot, with any degree of certainty, be said that Propyl Gallate causes cancer.

However, in my mind, this should have raised a red flag! Further studies should have been conducted, with better control subjects BEFORE it was approved for use in our foods.

I think that in addition to going after the drug companies for damage sustained by taking these dangerous drugs, we should be filing class action suits against the FDA for approving them for our use before their dangers are fully understood. Perhaps then they would stop killing our kids and actually ban dangerous drugs AND food additives.

excellent article, there are many dangers to be aware of: Future foods will need no salt, sugar, MSG, or artificial sweeteners. Instead, sensory perceptions will become warped by modern science. Brains will taste things that are not really there. Illusions. Deceptions. Memories of taste which are now artificially induced.

Where is the evidence for your claims? The CDC has reported Propyl Gallate as GRAS (generally safe) for doses of less than 0.1% which is within the amount currently in use.

    Good article, maybe more information?
I’ve heard that it causes brain tumors. Does it?

Can cause, may cause … But no facts. I often have coughing fits (hence irritation) from bran in oatmeal, indigestion from many things. I suggest that you are making a career from purveying fear. The title of your website illustrates this. Why not “stop killing people?

It is becoming very difficult to find information that is reliable, because of websites like yours.

Yesterday after eating Smithfield sausage I began to feel nervous, anxioys, angry, irritable, paranoid…much like MSG makes me feel…i read package and no sign of monosodium glutamate…but noticed a side note Propyl Gallate added…aha…those deceptive bastards…i called a Walgreen pharmacist in Snow Hill NC and she acted uncaring and unknowledgeable not even knowing much about MSG or that its in many foods other than meat like Campbells soups…dingy Amber said just dont eat it…i tried to explain I was calling because im having an MSG type reaction, but packaging shows no MSG in ingredients…thus im trying to identify what it could be. My body does fine with salt, sugar, natural flavors…but revolts against aspartame, msg, polyeurkronics or whatever the hell that stuff is in diet n caffeine free drinks. Why cant we just produce, feed, n eat what nature intended – stuff from God!

My friend feverishly exfoiliates her entire body, then slathers Propyl Gallate containing lotion all over her ENTIRE body, EVERY night, for years! Not helping her multiple auto immune diseases. Not to mention high cancer risk.

You guys should be ashamed of yourself for publishing this stuff. You have no evidence but you’re drumming up fear against a natural preservative that is actually quite effective and safe.

You are playing into peoples’ fears in order to get yourself website traffic and spreading misinformation which will lead people to make poor consumer decisions, based on no scientific evidence.

I looked this up because it is in Johnsonville brand brats. I will be making my own homemade brats and costs less without any chemicals.

The information on PG, while good, would be so much better if you would cite references. When you make statements, and don’t back them up with facts, that hurts your brand, even when you are right.

I’ve been getting a lip rash periodically for years now. In my twenties, I first noticed my breakouts when applying certain lip balms and Vaseline moisturizing products to my lips. At first, I thought to just avoid certain applications to my lips. But, recently I have broken out again with rarely visible rash on the lower bottom of my lip and I haven’t used lip balms or any application to my lips in a couple years. I backtracked and have noticed that since upon eating the sweet Italian Johnsonville bratwurst sausage for my breakfast that that was the culprit to my lip breakout. I ate it for breakfast 4 days ago and initially noticed that my lips were breaking out again. I ate the sausage yesterday morning and I have a full breakout. This is the first time I came across Propyl Gallete and it makes perfect sense that products containing Propyl Gallete is a concerning food allergen that need to be further investigated by the FDA. I rarely doubt that my lip rash is due to a vitamin deficiency due to the time of occurrence when I consume this preservative. Will do further research and awareness on Propyl Gallete and the oil industry.

Propyl Gallate is an estrogen inhibitor. In short it stops estrogen production. it is used to treat trans gender men to make them more masculine. This additive also causes breast atrophy.

The following is a quote from “The Cure And Prevention Of All Cancers” authored by Dr. Hulda Clark: SV40 viruses, like other viruses, must be triggered to emerge. In animals or in humans they can be triggered by one food phenolic substance, gallic acid. This is the same substance that acted as an allergen and inflamed the pancreas to make roaming cells. It can do two things: inflame the pancreas, and trigger the SV40 virus out of the pancreatic fluke. Diabetics are not full of gallic acid as cancer patients are. Chickens used as human food in the market place (in USA) are full of gallic acid, like human cancer patients. This conclusion is based on small numbers of horses, cats, dogs and chickens (not like the hundreds upon hundreds of human tested) but their were no exceptions. It seems very probable that the trigger for releasing SV40 viruses from pancreatic flukes is the same for animals and humans. It is gallic acid… the common preservative that we and “our” animals share, called PROPYL GALLATE.
