Is Vitamin Water Healthy for Us?
Judging by the name, Vitamin Water sounds like it’s a healthy drink; after all, it’s just water infused with vitamins, right? Wrong! It’s sad that we don’t trust ANYONE in this world, yet we believe whatever commercials tell us. This is partly why the food industry has been able to poison us without knowing it! We blindly believe that the foods we buy – the foods we are feeding our KIDS, the most precious parts of our lives – are safe to eat.
Let’s just look at the list of ingredients on the label:
- Vapor distilled/deionized water;
- Crystalline fructose
- Citric acid
- Vegetable juice
- Natural flavor
- Ascorbic acid
- Vitamin E acetate
- Magnesium lactate
- Calcium Lactate
- Zinc picolinate
- Monopotassium phosphate
- Niacin
- Pantothenic acid
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride
- Cyanocobalamine
So, water…and sugar (sugar??? Isn’t this supposed to be “vitamin” water??)…each bottle has 2-1/2 servings, which is misleading in itself, seeing as the bottle isn’t that big to begin with. BUT, Coca Cola probably didn’t want you to know exactly how much sugar is in this healthy Vitamin Water: 32.5 grams of sugar!
A 12 oz can of Coke contains about 39 grams of sugar…so you tell me, is this Vitamin Water something we should be giving to our children??
There are also a number of acids listed in the ingredients…why does water need so much acid? Now, there are vitamins listed on the label, but you would be much better off just giving your child a bottle of good old fashioned water and a Flintstone.
Because of the misleading “facts” about Vitamin Water, there is actually a lawsuit pending against Coca Cola and Glaceau for unlawful business practices & violation of FDA rules and regulations.
hey, nice blog…really like it and added to bookmarks. keep up with good work
